Below, you will find basic information about how to reach us. All our residency centres are located within the central district of Tartu and furthermore, we strive to arrange a personal welcome to each resident on arrival.

By car (also applies to hitchhiking)

Tartu is situated in southern Estonia. By car you can reach Tartu through Poland, Lithuania, Latvia (road E264) or Russia (road E77). From Sweden and Finland you can get by car with ferry via Tallinn (road E263). You can get information about roads to Tartu from any available map of Estonia.

By bus

Regular coach connections to Tartu are available among others from Tallinn, Riga, Berlin and St.Petersburg

Tallinn bus terminal is situated not far from the Tallinn Ülemiste Airport. Bus line no. 2 takes you from the airport close to the bus terminal (the “Autobussijaam” stop).

When arriving by ferry from Finland or Sweden take tram no. 2 (towards Ülemiste) or bus No. 2 which will take you to Tallinn bus terminal (the “Autobussijaam” stop).

Tartu bus station is located in the heart of the city with all our residency centres within walking distance.

By train

You can get by train to Tartu from Tallinn, Estonia’s capital. Trains for Tartu from Tallinn train station leave 8 times a day, and it takes a little more than 2 hours to get to Tartu. The train station is situated just outside the Tallinn Old Town and sea port, a taxi or tram No. 2 (from the sea port) can take you there (“Balti jaam” stop). Trains are comfortable and have wireless Internet access.

Tartu train station is located 5 minutes walk from Tartu AiR office at Trükimuuseum.

By plane

At the moment there are direct flights to Tartu from Tallinn.

Tartu Airport:

Tartu airport is located 10 km outside city limits and has a shuttle minibus service to your desired location within Tartu.

Other options are:

Arrival in Tallinn Airport (185 km from Tartu), followed by 2,5 hours bus trip.

Arrival in Riga Airport (245 km from Tartu), followed by 4 hours bus trip.
